CJC Plant Entry Forms

Q-When should I bring plants for judging and how long will it take?

A-We meet on the third Saturday of each month. (Exceptions to judging dates may occasionally occur due to major holidays.) Dates can be confirmed by reference to the calendar on this website, the event calendar on aos.org, or contacting us via email. Bring your plants from 12 noon to 1pm, and judging proceeds until finished. The length of judging will vary, depending on the number of plants brought in that month.

Q-Can anyone have an orchid judged? Can I watch?

A-All growers are invited to submit blooming orchid plants or cut orchid flowers for judging. Plants and flowers submitted for judging must be registered prior to 1pm. Anyone is invited to attend the judging sessions as observers. If you are interested in learning more about the AOS Judging Program, we invite you to attend one of our monthly judging sessions and speak with our Judges!

Q-What kind of awards might I receive?

A-There are a number of awards given by the AOS - to the flower, to the plant, or to the exhibitor. Here's a useful list: AOS Awards

Q-Does it cost anything to have a plant judged?

A-There is no entry fee for judging, however the American Orchid Society has a fee ($40 members, $60 non-members) to process an award.

Q-How do I get to judging?

A-The address to Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens is: 6500 S New Hope Road, Belmont, NC 28012. After turning into Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens at the main entrance, follow the road until you see the Administration Building on the right, just before you pass the ponds on each side of the road. Turn right, park in available spaces. The judging center meets in the Meadowview Room, which is attached to the Administration building.
